The dogs are very people oriented; they do not do well without communication and play with its owners. The breed is a family companion rather than a one-man dog. They need a considerable amount of exercise and a dog will be happiest if exercised twice a day.

These dogs have a short coat and the coloring of the coat ranges from solid liver to roan; thought the dog may have white markings. Red, black, and tan markings disqualify a dog from a show ring. The males are usually about 23-25 inches high and the females are smaller. Not all german shorthaired pointer breeders and not any kennel can offer you a show quality puppy.
